MySpace Launches Celebrity Channel Thursday

MySpace is launching its Celebrity Channel Thursday, which will be located at celebrity.myspace.com.

The move will allow the site’s 110 million users to have virtual access to the personal profiles and blogs of more than 300 actors, athletes, musicians and other high-profile celebrities.

Due to it being a portal with a large following, the channel could attract big advertisers and serve as a promotional platform for News Corp.’s Fox films and television entities.

With celebrity sites as TMZ.com who focus on the paparazzi photos and celebrity gossip, MySpace wants to build content by celebrities to create their own profiles and blogs. The celebrities will be given the ability to discuss what they want on their blogs, including their responses to rumors.
