Britney Spears “Strongly Advised” to Appear in Court

Britney Spears has been “strongly advised” to appear in court today for a hearing on her visitation rights. Sources tell People that Spears’ legal team has advised her to attend today’s hearing as it is “important” she be there.

Spears was stripped of her visitation rights earlier this month after refusing to return the children to her ex-husband Kevin Federline. She was rushed to the hospital and put on lockdown for mental evaluation following the standoff. Police and paramedics at the scene January 3 will testify.

“Absolutely she’s been advised to show. Her attendance is important,” the source says. The court is not requiring the Spears or Federline to show. Los Angeles family lawyer Scott Weston, who is not involved in the case, says Spears’ presence would be helpful.

“Britney needs to be there because it’s much easier to defend your client if he/she is present to refute what witnesses say,” Weston says.
“Also, is she doesn’t attend, it shows lack of interest on her part in getting back her kids,” he added.
